I act as executor on deceased estates, mainly for Isle
of Man residents. This means I am named as executor in a will, or
am appointed executor after the death of a relative or other
person you know. I also help with deceased estate affairs if asked
to do so by the dead persons family or by an executor.
If you would like to talk to me about this, please use the contact
details at the top of this page or call me on my personal landline
number in the Isle of Man: 01624-629016. If I feel it is not
appropriate for me to assist you, I can advise you who else you
might consider. You may be a relative who wants to talk about a
death and if you inherit. Or you may be thinking about your own
will and what happens to your property when you die.
The choice of executor on a will is not easy. Acting as executor
can be a lot of work - particularly if the personal affairs of the
deceased are not in good order or the assets of the deceased
estate are in several jurisdictions. The months following the
death can be a distressing and confusing time for the family of
the deceased and any beneficiaries of the estate. Even quite
simple estates can take a lot of time and expense to resolve.
Any executor has responsibilities clearly defined in law by the
probate process. This Wikipedia
entry explains what probate is. This section
from the Isle Of Man Courts Web site covers some aspects of the
Isle of Man probate process.
I approach my responsibilities as executor with a great deal of
care - in particular when dealing with the beneficiaries of the
deceased estate. I use a professional and well-managed approach
for the entire probate process and contact with all parties
involved - courts, lawyers, banks and building societies,
accountants etc. I use my business and finance background -
including a business degree and accounting qualification - to
ensure swift progress at reasonable cost. I have very good IT
(Information Technology = computer) skills, so can easily resolve
issues with computers belonging to the deceased e.g. close down
on-line bank accounts.
