Very comfortable with multi-company, multi-location
inventory, sales and purchase order processing - including
document flow, automated tracking, process automation via scanning
etc. Good familiarity with data exchange with business partners
via EDI and related standards.
Good understanding of related finance
requirements, including financial management analysis of various
'what if' distribution models e.g. trade-off in cost of
stockholding versus transportation costs.
Comfortable with high-volume systems e.g. millions of line-item
sales records per day. Good with technical links from EPOS systems
to centralised head-office systems and sophisticated analysis of
sales and profitability on multiple criteria - product line,
geographical region etc. Comfortable with complex sales, marketing
and commission strategies.
Primarily focused on 'value-for-money' in logistics/distribution
IT. Fully understand that IT must justify itself in a very
competitive and cost-conscious business environment. Happy working
at all levels within an organisation to gather business input and
ensure business commitment to new systems and methods of
operation.
Comfortable with most underlying IT platforms - whether
proprietary (IBM, Microsoft, Oracle etc) or open-source (Linux,
Java etc.). Good understanding of the cost and relevance of
various IT protocols and standards.
